Let the right wing scare hysterics begin!
Attorney General Eric Holder will be appearing before the Senate Judiciary Committee tomorrow and the right wing has already begun to whip itself into a froth. Namely the likes of Liz Cheney and her outfit, Keep America Safe, panicking over the Obama Administration’s plan to bring Guantanamo Bay detainees to U.S. soil to stand trial.
Last week Holder announced the New York-based trials of suspected 9/11 mastermind Khalid Shaikh Mohammed and four other detainees and Cheney’s group has responded by accusing AG Holder and President Obama of forgetting “that their chief duty is the safety and the security of the American people.”
Apparently they weren’t worried about any Americans’ “safety” or “security” during the bulk of the Bush Administration when 195 terrorists were tried and convicted stateside, starting in 2001. Maybe it was because instead of some nightmare scenario unfolding, all we had was that great big, whole lot of nothing. (You know? Other than prison sentences) But why would right wingers let a few facts get in the way of another chance to cry wolf?
Check back here tomorrow where we at New Security Action will be Live Blogging the hearings.
